BERHANU KURSE

Ethiopia. Natural. Juicy apricot with a hint of bergamot.
This coffee is very aromatic and sweet. The first thing we notice is its juicy apricot character, followed by a delicate note of bergamot. The cup has a soft, rounded sweetness and a fresh, elegant finish.

Mr. Berhanu Kurse produces this coffee in Gotiti, in the Gedeo district of Yirgacheffe. He owns 12 hectares of land, most of which is planted with coffee. The farm has been in his family for generations, and his children help him manage the farm and their own smaller plots.

The coffee is made from Ethiopian heirloom varieties grown at 2,200–2,300 metres above sea level. After harvesting between October and January, the ripe cherries are naturally processed, bringing out the coffee’s pronounced fruitiness and sweetness.

This coffee is part of the Single Farmer Project, which supports direct traceability for individual Ethiopian producers. Each lot is sold under the producer’s name, with the farmer involved in negotiating and agreeing on the price of their coffee. A juicy and aromatic natural Yirgacheffe with notes of ripe apricot, bergamot and a delicate, lingering sweetness.
